Printing ink viscosity measurement operation
1. Operation steps
① With a stopwatch in one hand and a 3-inch viscosity cup in the other hand, set the stopwatch to the ready state for timing.
② Put the clean viscosity cup into the ink to be tested, and require the whole cup to sink in the ink.
③ Lift up the viscosity cup and press the stopwatch at the moment when the ink surface is exposed at the mouth of the cup to start timing.
④ . observe the change of ink viscosity at the bottom flow outlet of the cup. Press the stopwatch to stop the timing when the outflow ink changes from continuous to drip.
⑤ Read out the calculation time on the stopwatch, that is, the viscosity of the tested ink (time: seconds).
2. Precautions
① Before measuring the ink viscosity, it is necessary to check whether there is solid adhesion or blockage on the inner wall of the viscosity cup and the outflow hole. If so, it must be cleaned before measuring. Otherwise, the measured viscosity is not true.
② When measuring the dark ink and then testing the light color ink, wash (or wipe) the cup ink to avoid polluting the light color ink and causing color change.
③ When adding solvent, stir while adding, add slowly. If it is too fast, it will damage the structure of the ink and cause ink delamination precipitation.
